“God save our gracious Queen! Long live our noble Queen! God save the Queen! Send her victorious, Happy, and glorious, long to reign over us, God save the Queen.”
This painting is done to celebrate 70 years reign of Queen Elisabeth II and her rosy and thorny experience in the house of Windsor. In line with the theme of this exhibition – HOME, I painted the head of the home of Windsor - Queen Elisabeth II and her husband. Like in very home, the home of Windsor had their own domestic problems. There are rumours of a rift between Prince William and Prince Harry; Prince Harry abandoned the family business and moved to America; Prince Andrew was linked with a with convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein. The thorniest episode of Queen’s Elisabeth II’s life is the death of the love of her life – her “Comic Companion” of 73 years – her “beloved Philip.”
Prince Philip had been the pillar of support for Queen Elisabeth II throughout the 69 years of her reign. His sense of humour was one of the sources of ENERGY that gave the Queen strength during the thorny times of her life. In this painting, I am depicting that Prince Philip is still backing the Queen behind the curtain of death that did them part.
